A major issue today in American politics is the argument of having congressional term limits. These limits, under the 22nd amendment, disallow any human being to be elected president more than twice. ... If congress had no congressional limits then presidents would have more time to accomplish what they start and there would be many more great presidents like Roosevelt.
Today thirty-eight states have limits on the number of consecutive terms their governors can serve, ranging from two to four year terms. While a few of these limits were put into law recently. In the mid-nineties the issue of congressional term limits was in much debate. The Republican Party’s 1994 “Contract with America” called for term limits. ... In 1995, a few states tried to set term limits on their Congressional Representatives, which was declared unconstitutional. Given the political position they now hold, Republicans aren’t saying much today about term limits.
Also term limits deny the reelection of popular politicians that have done an excellent job in office.
