Female Teenagers in the Media

From Saved by the Bell to Dawson’s Creek, teenagers have been taking over the media. In television shows and movies such as Cruel Intentions to the more recent American Pie, portrayals of teenagers have been eye opening. One of the most powerful movies that have served as a wake up call to the world, Kids, showed us a whole new look at teenagers. To understand teen portrayals more clearly, I want to look at movies and TV shows, and list views of different authors to answer the question, "Are teenagers today a problem to society, or does the media portray them more negative than they are in reality?" I want to show that teenagers, especially females, are being viewed as 1) sexual objects, 2) rebellious, and 3) willing to do anything to fit in and be accepted. ...
