Over the edge-jonathan kellerman

The novel I have been reading for the past month is called “over the edge” by Jonathan Kellerman. For my reading level I found the book challenging to read and understand. Words such as “burgeoning” to describe the smell of coffee or “pessimism” left me searching for a dictionary to know what was going on. Another problem I had was that the book was based around doctors and medical conditions so words like “anticholingic syndrome” came up quite often. This novel was set in the early nineties in California. A young boy by the name of Jamey Cadmus is schizophenric and believed to have killed eight male prostitutes after escaping from the Canyon Oaks Hospital. The main character, Alex Delaware, treated Jamey when he was younger and became attached to him.
