In the dictionary ethics is defined as “the study of standards of conduct and moral judgment.” To most of us we believe that ethics is what is morally right or wrong, however, determining what is right or wrong from one individual to the next can be very difficult. ... Their corporate ethics will probably have to change from country to country, but they would probably also have to have some core beliefs and guidelines of their corporate ethics. Ethics are also going to change from person to person based on our individual values and beliefs. ... We had a discussion in another class regarding ethics and what each person thought about ethical conduct and not surprisingly after a lengthy conversation the ultimate decision was that everyone has their own idea on what is right and wrong. ... So now we turn to ethics within the corporation. If you look in the dictionary you won’t find an explanation of what corporate ethics are, so I guess we could probably say that corporate ethics is kind of an oxy moron because a corporation is not an actual person so therefore how can a nonbeing have ethics. ... Today, with all the businesses being brought up on charges of unethical conduct and misrepresentation of finances, more and more individuals are concerned with the corporate ethics within a company. ... Therefore, I believe that corporate ethics are an important aspect of companies that help in the day to day business activities. ... Corporate ethics either classified as illegal or legal are critical to an organization’s success. ... Corporate ethics have to exist at some level but ultimately effective ethics create and build a morally safe environment based on core values that are unique to the corporation. On the other hand, ineffective ethics will create a fearful chaotic environment and mistrust among the employees and leaders and will eventually lead to the destruction of the organization.
