1. Gilgamesh and Achilles were both considered heroes. Both characters fought for their land, protecting their people. Both men also took revenge on the one who killed their close companion and both showed god-like qualities, great personal power, and fierce pride and loyalty. However, Gilgamesh and Achilles were also different. Gilgamesh was one-third man and two-thirds god. Achilles was mortal-immortal. His only fault was his heel. From what I gathered the Greeks were extremely intelligent and wealthy and the Assyrians were more focused on society as a whole. 2. Throughout our reading of the Iliad, Oresteia, and Oedipus, we see that the mentioning of gods are referenced within each literary work. Each character/actor had a power of a certain god. The gods were not at all as we see them.
