Deceit in the Canterbury Tales

Deceit Saint Paul said it best in his letter to the Corinthians “Let no man deceive himself, if any man among you seemeth wise in this world let him become a fool that he may be wise. ... Even though “The Pardoner’s Tale” took place in the 1390’s deceit is still rampant throughout society today. Deceit does not just happen in the slummy, dark corners of the Earth, deceit happens in the most unassuming places. Our upstanding businesses, churches, schools and even our own government practice deceit everyday. ... Our businesses today practice deceit by deceiving their customers only to the companies benefit. ... As we find in “The Pardoner’s Tale” deceit never leads to anything worthwhile. Our society is being over run with deceit and is buying into it everyday. ... Just as Paul told us, we should not let any man deceive us, the world is full of deceit and we should get the facts straight and no longer buy into societies deceiving ways.
