Darwin A Controversial Creator

A Controversial Creator

One of the most striking controversies during the Victorian age was the theories and debates concerning evolution. ... The debate exploded in 1859 when author Charles Darwin’s Origin of Species was printed. Even though many people in previous years had brought forth many presumptions, Darwin had extensive detailed evidence that established and supported his theory of natural selection. ... Scientists, religious leaders, and the public were all discussing Darwin’s theory and began to ponder and voice their concern or praise for the hypothesis. An important reason for the delay in the acceptance of some of Darwin’s theories was that they were in conflict with certain ideologies dominating in his time. Darwin himself apparently saw no conflict between evolution and religion, having earned a degree in divinity at Cambridge University. Though resisted from their inception to today the theories of Darwin have moved our world both forward and backwards depending on the individuals’ ability to evolve. ...
On one side of the debate are evolutionists, who list volumes of evidence in physics, geochemistry, astronomy, geology, biology, and other scientific disciplines to support the theory published by Darwin.
The theory which led Darwin to develop his peculiar views is Naturalism, one of the most striking theories that evolved in the nineteenth century which completely excluded religious values. ... “Darwin made a strong assertion at that time and claimed that the earth was around 300 million years old since the evolution process he planned in his mind took longer time than the actual age of the world. ... Anything to prove what they knew was right even if it was a lie, as long as it proved Darwin’s theory, which was justifiable for them. In time, as more data were accumulated by biologists and other great scientists, the contradictory nature and falseness that went on backing Darwin’s theory became apparent, yet it was skillfully kept hidden (Gray 307).
