Dairy Farmer
My name is Michael McClanahan, and I am a dairy farmer in Wisconsin. ... My family owns a big farm in the mid-western part of the state, and has been in the dairy farming industry for many of years. My family has done really well with dairy farming and has gotten the best prices for our milk and other dairy products. But during the depression many dairy farmers, including myself, took on a great collapse in price for milk and other dairy products. ... This didn’t affect dairy farmers nearly as bad. While the crop produce was decreasing more and more, the dairy farms like mine were actually producing more dairy products. The problem with this was that I was producing mass amounts of dairy product, and left with no one buying any of it. ... Being a dairy farmer in Wisconsin, we were doing well enough that we could stay in our home land.
