perspective
So I’m sitting here, staring blankly at this computer screen wracking my brain for a topic for this paper that I have to write for English class, and it is not working, I mean really not working. I am not an English student, never have been, never will be. (Unless you count grade 6 and the spelling tests, I could do those well, but everything else, no, not a clue.) I just can’t seem to get my head around those, so very basic concepts: grammar, sentence structure, etc. I’m here looking through the exercise book that I got for English class and I’m not understanding anything. And this is where the panic sets in. See there I go again, starting a sentence with ‘and’ that is not allowed - illegal - but am I going to change it?! No, no I am not, I like the way it sounds. That’s what I wanted to say so I’m gonna say it that way, what’s going to happen you might ask? Marks will be taken off. The downward spiral has begun. This brings me to my next point: essay writing, formal essay writing. Enough said. I have had teachers offer me alternate assignments because they do not wish to deal with my writing ‘skills.’ To put it nicely, I tend to freestyle, badly. Sentences can go for 1.5 pages.
