Introduction to MicroscopyandSurvey of the Porifera, Cnidaria, Platyhelminthes, and Nematoda
The first part of this lab focuses on proper use of a microscope. Certain rules are noted, such as using lens paper to clean the lenses, starting with low power and moving to higher power, the importance of using a slip cover, keeping the stage clean, and turning off the light when the microscope is not in use. The student is then instructed to set up a slide on a compound microscope. Also, use the coarse focus knob and the fine adjustment knob to focus on the specimen. After the specimen is focused, increase the objective.
