Social Stratification
Social Stratification Many social scientists dispute the two contrary views between functionalist and conflict theories based upon different philosophical assumptions and contain specific political implications. The functional theory states that social inequality is necessary to maintain the well-being of a society. The conflict theory contradicts the functionalists views based on that social inequality is a result from which upper classes utilize their status and power to not only benefit themselves but to beguile those below them. The functional theory implies that social stratification encourages highly skilled people to fill many important jobs in the society.
