Richard Wright uses many different writing styles throughout Native Son. ... In my opinion, Wright wrote many of his own feelings when making the character of the young black troubled boy Bigger. I think many of Wright’s experiences of black poverty went into the descriptive novel. The book was a way for Wright to get out all his feelings about white people, and how he has felt so oppressed by the system, so instead of making it relate to his own life, he speaks through Bigger Thomas. ... I think Wright used different techniques to take the reader on an emotional roller coaster. ... Wright showed Bigger’s personal growth as a person. ... Wright was able to put his opinions into the book, like what he really thought about the relationship between blacks and whites. ... I think Wright really wanted to get out his feelings, and he did an excellent job of saying his piece about the white and black relationships, and the stereotype of a black criminal.
