When you first read, Kate Chopin’s, “The Story of an Hour”, a closer look must be taken to see the true meaning of it. At first glance, the story seems to be a typical, everyday situation of a woman mourning the death of her husband. This is the kind of story where everything is implied and the reader must read between the lines in order to get the true meaning of the story. It is not until the end of the story that you realize that Chopin is really saying that unresolved depression can lead to death in life. As the story opens, the main character, Mrs. ... Mallard’s first reaction is to break down and cry in the arms of her sister. ... At this point in the story, it is apparent to the reader that she is suffering, and logical to think that. ...
