Review on Doo bop AlbumBy Miles Davis
Review on Doo-bop Album By Miles Davis Miles Davis was born in Alton, Illinois. ... Miles experiments with modal playing reached its apotheosis in 1959 with his recording of Kind of Blue. Davis had a great artistic gift for painting and creating music. ... When Miles played a tune it became part of his soul and it never lost character. This Davis album shows that he was a musician who was always looking for other stylistic avenues to travel. From be-bop to hip hop, the late Miles Davis was continually on the prowl for new musical territory to conquer. On "doo-bop," which he was finishing up when he died, Miles took his famed horn into rap and hip hop with rapper Easy Mo Bee (Bee finished up this album after Miles untimely death). This album was not the first attempt of Miles Davis of combining his sweet horn playing to the electronic keyboards and dance rhythms of 80s-style Top-40 music. ... On each, the lyrics are kept short to give Miles plenty of solo room. And each of the lyrics serves as an ode to Miles; the younger generation giving a nod of thanks and acknowledgement of debt to an established master. What makes "doo-bop" work so well is not only Easy Mo Bees obvious knowledge of and respect for Miles work, but Miles ability to play over any rhythm, to sustain any groove.
