Washington’s farewell address seemed to be an ominous document, forewarning the American’s of the mistakes they would make. ... Washington farewell address provided all of the aspects that Washington believed would be harmful or advantageous to the nation. ... This doctrine would have eased Washington’s concerns on permanent alliances and followed his views toward foreign policy. ... The national followed Washington’s path by chartering the second bank of the United States, which Hamilton convinced Washington was good for the nation. ... Because the nation was exposed to how these changes would affect the nation, they were able to change the things they did not like by electing a new president that would adopt a policy they agreed with. Washington would have approved of the annexation of Texas as a way to spread the American policy, but he would have disapproved of the Texas Revolution. ... A president that would have been commended by Washington according to his advice in the farewell address would have been Polk. ... According to Washington’s Farewell Address, part of this manifest destiny was for the United States to be a good example to the world. ... The United States citizens could not agree on one policy, therefore political parties were destined to form. ...
