Eastman Kodak
Kodak has been the leader in helping people take, share, enhance, and preserve photographs for memories, information, and entertainment. Kodak was started in 1879 in London when George Eastman went there to obtain a patent on his plate-coating machine. Eastman achieved an American patent in 1880 and began the commercial manufacture of dry plates. Eastman’s success impressed businessman Henry Strong so much that Strong decided to invest some money in the starting company. On January 1, 1881, Eastman and Strong created the new, upcoming company called Eastman Dry Plate Company. Eastman continued to manage all phases of his new company, but also continued to research in an effort to simplify photography.
In 1888, Eastman patented the KODAK camera, making photography available for everyone. The KODAK camera, pre-loaded with enough film for six exposures. ...
