nicholas II
Nicholas II (1868 - 1918) - As a Leader Nicholas the Second was born into a period of mass social change, reform and reconstruction, that had been spreading like a feverish force throughout Europe and the industrialising nations of the world. ... His demise, and that of his familys, was a fate caused by a culmination of factors not excluding: Nicholas lacking of the qualities required of an autocrat, his inheritance of an outdated Russian military, his ignorance of the social issues affecting Europe and similarly his country at the time and the tragedy of his son, Alexis disease. In 1894, Tsar Alexander the Third (the father of Nicholas Romanov) died unexpectedly of kidney failure and so leaving Nicholas to succeed him as the next Tsar of Russia. Nicholas was just 26 years old at the time and his father the Tsar before him had not given him the advise and knowledge that a future Tsar should have had. Inexperienced and unprepared for his role as autocrat of his extensive empire Nicholas was also resentful of his accession to the throne. ... Nicholas II was not excempted from this influence and enjoyed devoting his life to his religion over his life as Tsar.
