Macbeth Essay

In William Shakespeare’s novel Macbeth, it doesn’t take long for the action to pick up speed. In only the first two acts King Duncan is murdered by Macbeth. But is it really Macbeth who kills the king, or does that credit go to Lady Macbeth instead? It’s apparent from the play itself that Macbeth is the one to stab the sleeping king, but if it wasn’t for his wife, would of he taken King Duncan’s life? Lady Macbeth played a large role in the murder of King Duncan. She was the one who brought up the idea of killing him, sure the thought had crossed Macbeth’s mind, but it was just a notion. When Macbeth starts to back out on the idea his wife mocks him and makes up the plan to take the life of Duncan. Lastly, when Macbeth returns with the dagger after murdering the king, she’s the one to put it back near the guards.
