Throughout the 20th century, in Australia, the Aboriginal population has had to deal with many challenges. ... Some major challenges they have had to face are the stolen generation which split up many families, reconciliation which invlolves the rest of the population to have a better understanding of their culture and also Aboriginal rights which allows them to do the same as any other australian citizen.
The Stolen Generation is one of the biggest, and most well known challenges the Aborigianal people have had to face. ... This is only one of the many compounds Aboriginal people were literally stuffed into. In the great chain of being, Aboriginal people were placed at the very bottom with animals. ... The truth behind all this is that the children were removed because they were aboriginal not because their parents were drunk, unstable or unfit to bring up children. Aboriginal culture was looked upon as also having no value, it all lay in the European culture. ... It was estimated that 40,000 aboriginal people were removed from their families. 1 in 6 Aboriginal children were taken as opposed to 1 in 300 white Australian children.
Reconciliation, in the Aboriginal community, is considered a challenge simply because of the process it will take to accomplish.
