1. Summarize in your own words the story that the poem “Jabberwocky” tells. The poem titled Jabberwocky written by Lewis Carroll has many nonsense words that are gibberish. This poem has so many nonsense words that they really do not make sense until the reader has read them a few times The poem begins by letting the reader know the setting of the this poem. When the author says “Twas briling and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe”, the reader can assume that this is the setting and it means that it is a nice calm summer day outside with the wind blowing air. Next the author says “Beware the Jabberwock, my son!”; from this we don’t know if it is the mother or the father telling the boy to watch out for the jabberwocky, but we do know that it is one of them. The reader also finds out that the jabberwocky is a dangerous creature from this statement. The parent then describes Jabberwock in more detail, “the jaws that bite, the claws that catch!”.
