OutKast Performance of American Indians
Why do you think OutKast chose to use the theme of American Indians in their recent Grammy performance? ... OutKast has made a big fuss in the American Indian communities and they are demanding apologies from the group and some sort of explanation as to what they were thinking. If people are so outraged about the Super Bowl halftime show and want an all-out hunt to sanitize and regulate even more of what Americans watch, then why are they not as equally outraged by the Grammy Awards and OutKast? ...
The main point is that OutKast insulted American Indians with their show-ending performance on the Grammy broadcast Sunday night, and CBS allowed it. ... "Performances like OutKast’s during Sunday’s Grammy broadcast undermine the entertainment industry’s dedication to diversity and use racial stereotypes in a hurtful way." At the end of the program, OutKast performed their hit "Hey Ya" against a backdrop of a futuristic Indian teepee. ...
