The consistency of one’s personality traits is what is being asked in this question and I believe there is an argument both for and against this statement. ...
According to Gordon Allport, personality is
“The dynamic organization within the individual of those psychological systems that determine his unique adjustments to his environment”.
Coming from the Latin word “Persona” meaning mask, personality is the sum total of ways in which an individual reacts to and interacts with others. The Latin translation aptly describes in simple terms an individual’s personality as being their mask. This “mask” is made up by a person’s personality traits which I will explain using the Myers-Briggs Type indicator and the Big Five Model later on in this project.
As for the consistency of these traits, I believe them to be mostly stable across time and different situations but can differ depending on one’s current situation. It is widely believed that personality traits are a combination of biological factors and situational influences
