Peter Singer’s “Animal Liberation,” did a good job pulling the reader in emotionally to care about animals, but at the same time did it by comparisons that were absurd. ... He states that animals just like humans should have equal rights depending if the animals feel pain and suffer. Since they are living things also, what gives us the rights as another race to infringe on the rights of others? He proposes that society changes their views about nonhumans and give them the rights they deserve. ... The Black Liberation, Gay Liberation, and the Women Liberation to the animal liberation that still needs to come forth. ... " In other words every living thing should be treat Singer refers to these equal rights as speciesism. ... Just because we are ignorant on how the smallest of species respond to pain should not interfere with their rights to be able to live in peace.
Another point that Singer uses to back up his proposal for animal rights is the cruelty that goes on in experiments. ... Are we to interfere with the rights and freedoms of bacteria and viruses that consume a human body? Or do we let them fulfill their natural coarse putting their rights ahead of the human race?
