	Elle Gilchrist’s “Updated” is a short story written in a form of a letter. Its title – “Updated” implies that the letter is intended to give some kind of news and correct news, but in fact it is much more than a simple observation of a Christmas custom. It is a purposefully created opportunity, which allows the writer to depict the huge changes in the main character’s outlook on life, which is shaped by her painful struggle to find the answer to the most essential question in human life that is the sense of life and death. The story is told in the first – person point of view by Aurora Harris, who is both the narrator and the main character.
