... They can be technical, such as computer and technological, academic, such as graduation and drop out rates, or substance problems, such as drug and alcohol abuse. The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is no exception to this as we too have many problems and issues that need resolving, yet alcohol abuse is not one of our concerns.
To understand why alcohol abuse is not an issue at UNC-Charlotte, one must first understand my personal view of the term “alcohol abuse”. When I refer to this, I mean when a person drinks an overabundance of alcohol, either intentionally or unintentionally, and, as a result, places either himself or others in a situation that may be dangerous to him, others, or the local environment. Some situations that may be considered alcohol abuse would be driving while intoxicated, being extremely violent due to drinking, or any other actions that could be harmful for someone.
The main reason that I feel that UNC-Charlotte does not have an alcohol abuse on campus is because only a small percentage of students live in dorm buildings.
