Catcher in the Rye
The Catcher in the Rye by J. D Salinger is set in and around New York City in the 1950’s. It is narrated by a young man named Holden Caulfield who is currently undergoing treatment in some sort of medical facility. The events that Holden talks about take place during a few days between the end of fall and Christmas, when Holden was 16. Holden tries to interact with other people as an adult, and retreat from them as a child. He talks about the pains of growing up and the phoniness of the adult world.
