A Changed Life In life there is often one action or choice that has great influence on the outcome of an individual’s life. The choice that forever changed my life was the decision to study the martial art of Taekwondo. As a child I had learned it was very important to know how to defend myself and be physically fit. Somehow I knew an understanding of martial arts would reveal a world of mystery, of secrets, and of power, so at the age of six years old, I joined a karate academy. At first I loved the training and how I was learning to defend myself, but I was afraid of my instructor. Whenever he noticed that a defensive or offensive move was not executed with the precision that he demanded, he would correct us with a bamboo pole that he carried around the studio.
