The vision of human development enunciates different views of human growth, reaching higher human evolution, and the development of one’s higher sense of self. Ultimately, it seems like the final goal for human development is happiness and satisfaction. Wilber’s No Boundary, Walsch’s Conversations with God, and Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s On the Bhagavad-Gita each offers methods and plans for achieving higher human development. Although each author uses varying methods for attaining more developed human growth, each contains similarities as well. Wilber’s method of human development involves achieving unity consciousness, defined as a “loving embrace with the universe as a whole” (Wilber, 3). Walsch feels as though one needs to change sponsoring thoughts and participate in a “new thought movement” to achieve higher human evolution and the development of one’s higher sense of self (Walsch, 168). ... As psychological development occurs, one’s sense of self/not-self changes, whether by accident or intention. ... Wilber also expresses the levels of human awareness as, level one, the persona level, level two, the centaur/existential level, and level three, the transpersonal level. ... Hence, before deciding to endeavor this and change one’s life, it may be wise to read about the other author’s attempts at reaching a higher state of human development. ... Walsch did not demand intense changes to reach a higher form of human development. ...
God seems to go into a form of higher development, not specifically, but in answer to a question about New Age teachers blaming everything on lack of self-worth. ... He explains this as the only way to achieve evolution, which can be thought of as a higher form of development. ... The novel begins with Lord Krishna’s teachings to Arjuna on the battlefield, which in essence are ways of achieving how he sees the highest form of human development, as cosmic consciousness. ...
Looking at the methods presented by Wilber, Walsch, and Yogi, it is easier to see the similarities between the methods of human development and the similarities between the ultimate goals of attempting to reach a higher human development. While Wilber believes that the method to reach unity consciousness is by the elimination of boundaries in one’s life, Walsch feels the changing of one’s thinking can attain a higher development. ... Wilber and Walsch would both agree that the vision of human development could be translated into achieving a pure happiness (although Wilber would point out this is a boundary, it is the best way to put it into words. ...
Thus, despite the contrasting messages the author’s used to explain higher human development, they all seem to be saying the same thing. ...
In conclusion, Wilber, Walsch, and Yogi, all had varying methods on achieving a higher form of human development. The view of human development seems to be, different forms of human growth, reaching higher human evolution, and the development of one’s higher sense of self.
