Same-sex marriage has been fought against for many years. ... President Bush plans to endorse language introduced by Representative Marilyn Musgrave, Republican in Colorado, that supporters contend would ban gay marriage. However, it would not prevent state legislatures from allowing civil unions and same-sex partnership arrangements that currently exist in Vermont, California, and now Massachusetts.
