James Smithstone is a simple man, the type that believes hard work is the only dignified way to make a living. Never looking for a shortcut, he provides for his family the basic needs in life. The Smithstones hold their stake in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This town, the same one in which James was raised, is the place his family calls home and only on rare occasions have ever stepped outside the boundaries of. Living on a lot of land that has been passed down through the generations, the Smithstones manage to use the land to make enough money for most of their needs. As if the struggle to grow plants during a drought is not enough, farmers in this area are beginning to feel the pressures of larger land owners who send in their products to these small towns.
