Mrs.Heather Rice, an eighty-six year old woman was admitted to the nursing home May, 2002 with Alzeimer disease and a fractured left Tibia. She was unable to communicate for she always maintained an open-mouthed posture and was non-verbal. She had a history of continued weight loss even with interventions (given resource three times a day). For the nineteen months that I knew and worked with her, it was always distressing to get her up each day , put her in her Geri chair and wheel her to the dining room for breakfast/ lunch or supper. She would be resistive to care, refusing to change her briefs by clinging to them as you tried to remove them.
