In the Article “A Little Milk, a Little Honey: Jewish Immigrants in America” author David Boroff argues that not only did Jewish immigrants have an influence on America in the late 19th century, but America had an influence on them “creating an indelible mark on American culture and history that would endure for many years.” 1) Many of the Jew who immigrated to America in the early 19th century came because of economic depression and the Industrial Revolution that made their occupation as artisans and small merchants unbearable; some came because of disfranchisement and discrimination in Germany. 2) The emigration experience was easier for Jews before 1880 mostly because they were better educated and acquainted with modern political and social attitudes than the oppressed East European multitudes who came after 1880.
