Brick Pollit, indifferent to the charm that he possesses of those that have given up in life, is first introduced, in the original play, as an untouchable and self-involved man. It is apparent through the original play that Brick was less of a man then he was in his past. We find that Brick has depressingly lost himself behind a screen of liquor, and it’s clear that he does not desire for a way out. His character does not change throughout the entirety of the original play. However, the original play is given with an additional third act, where Brick’s character changes in the end. ... Brick realizes the turmoil presented before him and he works to protect those that he sees are truly supporting him. This change is not believable. This is in most part due to the lack of progress to the point of change and the short time that his character did change.
