Is the Family Dying?
The statement that the present Canadian family is dying a hyperbole. The article, “The Canadian Family” examines the family structure a century ago, through the use of statistics from the past and present. The author, Elaine Moyle, compares issues of drugs, violence, being single and common misconceptions that people formulate about the change in the family unit. The fact that the family is dying is a myth that has been recycled continuously.
First, many people believe that present family unit is knocking on the door of apocalypse, especially when compared to the family structure a century ago. ... ” He continues on to state that the family has the misconception that they are treading on new ground; though the ground might look newly paved it has been walked on many times before.
