In the play Whose life is it anyway Brian Clark poses one of the “big” questions in life “Do I have free will”? ... Even though his mood is always cheery, he doesn’t try to hide the fact that he is seriously injurded,
“Everyone who deals with me thinks that a broken spine will heal, it’s just a bit of a bore waiting for it to happen”
The reality seems to have sunk in resulting in a lack of optimism
“For me, life is over”
Ken never loses his sacasim no matter what kind of mood that he is in. ... This shows that ken has no choice in his own life. ... I think that Clark chose not to include them in the story because it shows that Kens life is now the hospital. His outside life, he has no conections with, his job he can no longer do, his wife to be has gone. ... Maybe this could symmbolise Kens feelings towards her, he wants to forget her, she is no longer an immportant part in his life. The lack of his finace in the book could symmbolise his life now empty without her. ... He is doing his job which is prolonging his life, by letting Ken die he could feel like a failer.
“It’s the job of the hospital to save life, not to lose it”
The doctor wants him to get the full purpose out of his life.
