Agencies and Governing Bodies The Football Association (F.A) is the main governing body for football in this country. It oversees the running of professional teams and leagues, amateur teams and leagues and competitions such as the F.A Cup. It handles the finances of the game as well as funding it through sponsorship e.g. Carlsberg and McDonalds. They also look after the players, officials and coaches in the game. It mainly concentrates on grass-root development as it introduces programmes and schemes to aid the development of children. It’s also responsible for F.A Learning, disciplining players, referees and coaches, child protection and elite development e.g.
