Did you know that Canada only contains 2% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions? ... One might say that the Kyoto Accord must be implemented with face-paced and full-scaled effects due to environmental concerns. It is true; the environment is a factor Canada must look at. However, does Canada really need to be making rash decisions like this? While the Kyoto Accord does have very good intentions, Canada hasn’t paid attention to the negative effects of its implementation. Many believe that the Kyoto Accord shouldn’t have been placed into effect. The potential damage that the agreement has on Canada is just too large. Countries like the United States have a much higher output of greenhouse gas, yet they refuse to participate in the Kyoto Protocol. ... Damaged industries, drop in employment, and a weak economy would be some of the results of the Kyoto Accord’s ratification. Looking at these reasons shows how badly impacted Canada will be if the Kyoto Accord’s implementation into the system is too large. The negative reasons of the Kyoto Accord outweigh the positive reasons; this means Canada should limit the goals of the Kyoto protocol. ... The Kyoto Agreement could cause material achievement and progress to vanish from the country. ... This value is currently present in Canada, but it could very possibly vanish.
