Parental Custody Majority of people today can say that they have been married at least once in their lifetime. Out of these marriages, children are conceived. “Every 9 seconds, a child custody appears in front of a judge” (Evanovich 2002). What happens to them when the parents are divorced? Who do they live with? For years, parents have fought over rights of children. Some only think of the alimony they are going to receive. Most do not think of the best interest of the children. The loyal parents are the ones that have the problems in receiving custody. They have trouble proving the other parent unfit. Judges and lawyers must have concrete evidence. They will not take someone’s word, testimony, or other hear say. It has to be in picture, letter format from police, or maybe complaint forms. So many parents are having to take care of children without help from the other parent.
