When Jesus asked the woman of Samaria for a drink of water, he already decided that he would give her the gift of faith. The woman can be seen as a disciple of Jesus for a couple of reasons. The woman went back to the city of Samaria and told everyone that she recognized the Messiah and told them to “come and see.” The second reason is that the Samaritans believed in Jesus because of the woman’s word. The most important thing about the Samaritan woman is that she helped others understand the Word of the Lord. Jesus left Judea to travel to Galilee. Because there was a deep distrust between the Jews and Samaritans, the route through Samaria was avoided frequently.
