kuch nahi hota hai

Absolutely not. A teen is a teen, an adult is an adult. A 13 year old boy recently killed a little girl, it may have been unintentional, I don't know, but he was tried as an adult and condemned to prison for the remainder of his life. A little girl's life is gone, this is a tragic and despicable event, no question about that, but one must then ask what is to be gained by taking the life out of the boy and his grieving mom, forever, does that correct the tragedy? ----------------------------------- I think it depends on what we want to use punishment for©© deterrence or retribution. I don't think punishing teens as adults is going to deter other teen criminals for a couple reasons: 1) the teenage population is constantly in flux which means any act of deterrence becomes outdated quickly, and 2) adolescence is a period where we intentionally push against boundaries to find our personal limitations©© other people's mistakes and misfortunes likely won't deter us (anyone who's ever been an teenager knows this is true). If punishment is merely for retribution, then we have to look hard at who the real culprit is. One reason why we don't try children as adults (or haven't, up until recently) is that we see them as more an extention of their parents©© they're in a developmental stage that their parents are responsible for. Does that not hold for serious crimes? Personally, I think it does © I think if kids are sick enough to commit hugely violent crimes, then it's probably because of the environment they grew up in. I'd rather see the parents tried for their child's crimes. Anyway, that's my two cents. ------------------------------------------------------------- i think that it depends on what law they broke. i think if they robbed a store or killed someone then most definatly try them as an adult. teenagers arent stupid they know right from wrong. we let them vote when they are 18 because we believe that they are adults. and i bellieve that is why most people under 18 arent tried as adults.
