GATSBY THE AMERICAN DREAM FROM PURITY TO CORRUPTION

When the Dutch sailors’ first got a glimpse of the new world, they had a dream for all people who would come to America. This dream was that people would be able to come to a place where they could improve their standard of living and gain a higher social class. In the novel, The Great Gatsby, one can see how F. Scott uses Gatsby’s person experiences and different symbols in Gatsby’s life to compare how the American Dream went from being so pure to being corrupt.
From a very young age, Gatsby’s focus on life was not to obtain wealth, but rather to improve his standard of living and achieving happiness.
