2 Imagine that you want to become a medical doctor in American society How would Kingsley

Kingsley Davis and Wilbert Moore claim that social stratification or social inequality is essential for society. A hierarchy is created within a society because different jobs require levels of training as well as different skill levels. ... Social inequality is necessary to some extent in order for a society to function properly. ... This is seen often in American society, where the inequality is drastic. A good example would be teachers which are important but do not have the rewards compared to the profession of medical doctor (Fargnis, 2004).
In America medical doctors are near the top of the social stratification. ... Moore and Davis said that the greater the service is to society should decide what the reward for that position should be. In this case medical doctors do help society, and they are rewarded for that in the ways of pay, which leads to prestige and the forms of leisure they can enjoy (Farganis 2004).
Though doctors are very important to our society, and there is a great need for them it is not possible for everyone to go through medical school. The same inequality that Moore and Davis say is needed for society to function is exactly the reason why some people can become doctors, and others factory workers. Most Americans have the mental capacity to become a medical doctor.
