I hope to contribute to the medical scholars program, by bringing in new a opinion and perspective, by simply “working hard”, and abiding by a “do the right thing” mentality. In addition, I can easily empathize with others’ viewpoints, and I regard compassion to be one of the most significant attributes needed to be a (good) physician. Also, I am not only genuinely interested in how the human body works, but also in how medicine can be utilized to improve one’s quality of life. I understand that becoming (and being) a physician is extremely challenging, and I’m eager to take on the challenge. I love learning and gaining new understandings into my subjects. While I may seem nerdy for this, I often find myself “digging deeper” into subjects than my teachers require. I would like to continue learning for the rest of my life. In essence, I hope to make my contribution to the medical scholars program with my personal philosophies, and my strong work ethic. One time that I disappointed myself, was during my freshmen year, during a Forensics Tournement. I was at the tournament because the class “Forensics” required it. I had signed up for the class because (naively) I thought that Forensics was a crime scene investigation class. Unable to change classes, I was stuck with Forensics, and practiced public speaking, for two hours after school everyday.
