Abortion is Homicide In America, about four thousand children are being killed every day in a process which is normal to most of society. This process is known as abortion. Abortion is, in plain terms, the execution of an infant before birth. In America, it is illegal to kill a living person and is obviously morally wrong to do so, but under many circumstances, people feel that it is okay to kill an unborn infant. There is no loop hole around the truth. Abortion is homicide and should be determined as such just as any other murder is. By allowing a mother to abort her child, one is granting her the right to kill another human being. Heritage House states: “1.5 million babies are being murdered each year.” (Heritage House.) Both unmarried and married men and women who engage in sexual intercourse should take responsibility for his or her owns actions, consider the options, and ponder the many effects abortion leaves. A woman should be able to control her body. However, if a woman wants to exercise this control, she should do so by avoiding sexual activities if she is not ready to take responsibility for a child. According to J. C. Willke, Ph.D., “ninety-seven percent of all abortions are for social reasons.” (Chosen Children.) The main social reason is to avoid scrutiny from peers. To avoid this scrutiny, as well as the abortion all together, some women take pills or use condoms during sex. Even if a woman is taking birth control or a man is using a condom, there is always a chance of pregnancy. Without being prepared for the challenges of raising a baby, no one should engage in sexual activities. All children should be wanted children. Any unwanted baby should be placed for adoption, even in cases of rape and incest. The chances of becoming pregnant in a rape situation are a mere one in five hundred. In cases of incest, there is only a one percent possibility of becoming pregnant. Heritage House statistics show that there are two million adults waiting to adopt babies and 1.5 million babies aborted each year (Heritage House.) It is true that some pregnancies are unwanted, that some mothers are not able to support their children, and that some women could have some health issues from carrying a baby. However, the fetus should not be aborted, but instead placed in a secure, loving home by being given up for adoption.
