... The Genocide in Rwanda opened my eyes to the horrors of the modern day world and mankind’s inability to learn from its mistakes in the past. ... The Genocide in Rwanda was by far the fastest extermination of that many people humanity has ever seen.
What was most disturbing to me was not the hatred the Hutu had towards the Tutsi or their mass extermination of the Tutsi, it is the United Nations’ disturbing reaction to the chain of events in Rwanda. The United Nations never thought another Genocide was possible after the Holocost, and therefore did not treat what was happening in Rwanda as what it truly was.
