Many teenagers are unaware of the risks involved in having sex. Pregnancy happens to be a very common but costly result of sexual intercourse. Luckily, there are many ways that an informed person can avoid some or most of the risks of sex by taking important precautions and being aware of the responsibilities of sex. Pregnancy is the period from conception to birth when a woman carries a developing fetus in her uterus. During this very complicated process consisting of about 9 months the embryo turns into a full-grown baby. The general belief among scientists and doctors alike is that life begins right away when the sperm penetrates the egg. Within a half hour the egg begins to divide extremely quickly while traveling down the Fallopian tube to the uterus. At this stage it is called a zygote. These cells will stick themselves onto the walls of the uterus and connections from the mother to the embryo form the placenta. At three weeks the heart begins to beat and organs begin to take shape.
