“A Beautiful Mind” Analysis “I need to believe that something extraordinary is possible.” With this statement, Alicia Nash sums up my general feelings regarding this portrayal of John Nash’s struggle with schizophrenia. “A Beautiful Mind” tells the story of the mathematician’s life and how he and his wife dealt with the disease. Since it is a true story, the reality factor was astonishing. It explored the way an individual can indeed overcome his or her disability. I thoroughly enjoyed the film and would like to discuss the portrayal in more depth. Howard Dean headed off to the states of Washington and Wisconsin today. John Edwards and Wesley K. Clark traveled to Tennessee. John F. Kerry stayed home and Joseph I. Lieberman, defeated, went home. So began the next leg of the campaign for the Democratic nomination for the presidency, with the fortunes of all but one of the contenders largely dependent now on the outcome of one or perhaps two and, at most three, of the remaining primary races. Although Edwards and Clark both won primaries Tuesday, they lagged far behind Kerry, who has won seven elections and has more than twice the number of delegates than either Edwards or Dean, a former governor of Vermont.
