Inspiration From A “Flop” It was the last night of Beast and hopes were high for the class of 2007. Excessive hazing, poison ivy and even dysentery had made the past 6 weeks a living hell and there was only one more obstacle that had to be completed. At first, the march back to West Point didn’t seem like a big deal. After completing ordeals such as Warrior Forge and the Bayonet Assault course, we felt as if we could overcome anything. On that rainy night our thoughts thought of nothing but the start of the academic year and the chance to finally sleep in a bed. The march back was perilous and it seemed that everyone had something to complain about. However, after seeing my squad mate ignore a major foot injury and resisted falling out of the march, my comrades and I witnessed the epitome of the Warrior Ethos and through is valiant action, continued the march with a feeling of triumph. “Only one more miles till the ski slope guys, come on, you can do it.” My Platoon leader continued leading our platoon at a staggering pace.
